An Inspector Calls Essay Upgrade

Click on the button above to download a resource on An Inspector Calls that’s designed to help students develop their writing. It’s identical in structure to the one on A Christmas Carol. It has two parts:

• Page 1: A past exam task (AQA)
• Page 2: A basic essay with suggestions for improvement 

The essay is on the left-hand side of page two and the suggestions for improvement are on the right. The red boxes are just there to illustrate what I mean!

When I printed the resource for the students I teach, I popped some lines onto the right-hand side of an A3 page and trimmed the excess paper from around the margins. I then directed students towards upgrading specific paragraphs – they didn’t rewrite the whole thing.
