Cover Lesson SoW for The Woman in Black
The scheme of work notionally covers 24 lessons. However, it’s unlikely that each one will tidily fit into a unit of precisely one hour. It may be the case that some lessons take a little longer, whilst others take a little less. That’s entirely normal and those delivering them should pace each one as the class and situation demands. They can be chopped-and-changed as you see fit.
The lessons are designed to be delivered by cover teachers or non-specialists. In this way, the resources are fundamentally different to the ones included in the traditional scheme of work for English teachers. No photocopy is required, so all students need is a copy of the text itself. Each lesson takes the form of a PowerPoint slide deck, so those responsible for delivery can click-and-go.
The slide decks contain common elements...
- An overview for teachers (in a friendly green)
- A holding slide to display at the start of the lesson including the Big Question and Do Now task
- A introduction slide containing a broad overview of the chapter or section for when you read
- A slide containing tracking questions for students to complete or discuss after the reading
- A slide containing the Big Question and instructions about the main task
The snips below should give you a good idea of how everything’s formatted...

This is what the folder of files looks like...

I hope the resources are useful and, crucially, that they save you some time.
