Volume Two

Click on the button above to purchase a collection of four short stories and accompanying assessments. As is the case with Volume One, the resource is designed for students in KS3. I’ve listed the texts below...

  1. Test, by Theodore Thomas
  2. Through the Tunnel, by Doris Lessing
  3. Fish Cheeks, by Amy Tan
  4. Stolen Day, by Sherwood Anderson

I’ve tried to keep the presentation of the booklet as simple as possible, so there’s plenty of space in the margins for annotations etc. The booklet is fully editable though, so you can add or remove anything you want. I reckon it’ll work in both A4 and A5 sizes, although A4 is propbably better. The booklet is 30 pages in total.

The assessment for each short story follows the same format and should take students roughly 45 minutes to complete. They’re designed to test students’ ability to understand explicit and implicit information, and to make relevant inferences on characterisation and the writers’ use or language. The snips below of the first story and assessment should hopefully give you a good idea about how the resource is formatted...

I hope you find the booklet useful. Just get in touch if you have any questions –
